Refrain: Don't sleep my little baby, I pray that you won't sleep, my little child. Don't sleep my little baby, That's why I sing this antilullaby. 1st verse: The stars are shining in the automn sky; The birds are flying high. Yet you're uneasy and you don't know why. (Refrain) 2nd verse: You close your eyes to sleep, yet something's wrong; You'll hear it if you try. It's not the automn wind, don't close your eyes. (Refrain) 3rd and 4th verses: You close your eyes to sleep, but faintly then, You hear a distant cry. Oh pray don't fall asleep, for then they'll die. It would be easy to just close your eyes And block out all the pain. I'll try to wake you with the same refrain. (Refrain) 5th verse: Don't close your eyes for you could end their lives While in a slumber deep. Don't close your eyes my precious child, I pray, don't sleep.
